Everyday Pulao Recipe
Introduction
Some days, you don’t want a heavy royal feast — you just want a quick, wholesome, and tasty meal. That’s where Everyday Pulao comes in. Using Suvarnankur Basmati Rice, this pulao is light, fluffy, and aromatic, with every grain staying separate. It’s the perfect dish for busy weekdays, lunchboxes, or a simple dinner that still feels special.
Ingredients
For Rice:
- 1 ½ cups Suvarnankur Basmati Rice (soaked for 20–30 minutes)
- 1 tbsp ghee or oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 bay leaves
- 2–3 green cardamoms
- 3–4 cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
For Vegetables (you can adjust as per choice):
- 1 cup carrots – chopped
- ½ cup beans – chopped
- ½ cup green peas
- 1 potato – cubed
- 1 onion – thinly sliced
- 2 green chilies – slit
- Salt to taste
Optional for extra flavor:
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- A handful of fresh coriander leaves
- A squeeze of lemon juice
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Rice
- Wash Suvarnankur Basmati Rice 2–3 times until water runs clear.
- Soak for 20–30 minutes, then drain. This ensures long, fluffy, non-sticky grains.
Step 2: Cook the Base
- Heat ghee/oil in a deep pan or pressure cooker.
- Add cumin, bay leaves, cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon. Let them splutter.
- Add sliced onion and sauté until golden.
- (Optional) Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 1 minute.
- Add chopped vegetables and green chilies. Stir for 2–3 minutes.
Step 3: Add Rice & Water
- Add soaked Suvarnankur Basmati Rice and mix gently with the veggies.
- Add 2 ¾ cups water (for 1 ½ cups rice).
- Add salt to taste.
- Cover and cook until rice is fluffy and water is absorbed (10–12 mins).
- If using a pressure cooker: 1 whistle on medium flame, then let pressure release naturally.
Step 4: Serve Hot
- Gently fluff the rice with a fork, you’ll see long, separate grains.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and a squeeze of lemon juice.
- Serve with curd, pickle, or a simple curry.
